Mankutimmana kagga - damping of vibrations

Mankutimmana kagga is one of the profound writings in kannada literature. The mysteries of our lives are presented through philosophical short-liners by DV Gundappa. DVG as a journalist, an ardent thinker and a common man has put forth this wonderful and ever sparkling kaggas. Swami Brahmananda from Chinmaya mission calls it Bhagavadgeethe of Kannada, second to none. It is presented in simple kannada (even though it looks complicated for many of the readers) addressing a common man.

Kaggas are some of the experiences of DVG's own life like he says,

Something unknown enters your life and tries to dig your mind deep This motivated him to write these kaggas based on the realities of life through the support of spiritual literature.

There are few kaggas which has really motivated me in doing many work, especially when I feel I have lost something precious.

It says that human immortality can be proven by rebuilding what has been razed like rain which cleans up this earth again and again or like the earth which gives us food harvest after harvest...

Another one of such a type is

When the mind gets struck in ethical dilemma, introspect yourself with dispassion. What else can you believe in other than the light of your conscience. These lines really cheered me up when I was going down in many situations.

An example for destruction and rerise, Tsunami (a turbulent wave) killed many of the innocents. Likewise many natural calamities happen building sorrow in people. But, finally the sorrows dampen and people get back their happiness. These dampening effect of mighty but killer turbulent waves can be achieved fast through philosophical catalysts. The turbulent fluctuations in mind is more complicated to explain than the real technical turbulence. This real turbulence of mind is beaten to laminar state by kagga or similar philosophical short-liners. Importantly, the death of turbulence to laminar regimes can be only through strength of our minds.

The highest rate of damping can be seen in sadhus and sanyasis, since they are driven in the spiritual direction. They act as philosophical dampers not only for themselves but also for the other ignorant people through their influence. The term "Vairagya" or detachment from any subject or object is only internal. If you try to project the detachment externally, then the real detachment cannot be attained. Being detachedly attached is the secret behind the quantified bliss a human being can possess. Most of the scientists in the present or the past world damp the sorrows or unhappiness through a complete feel to the subject and hence sow the seed of internal detachment through their patience which is a philosophical damper of highest quality.
